Question by ladydarius20: is it possible for me to have thrush but not spread it to my baby?
i went to the doctor today to confirm that i had mastits, and he said i might also have a touch of thrush and gave me some ointment to apply. My son though seems perfectly normal he is not acting fussy( aside from the fact he has a cold which is why i think i got mastitis in the first place because we was eating more frequently and more aggressively) his mouth is clear he has no diaper rash. I called his doctor and asked if i should bring him in or if they needed to call in a prescription for him and they said just to wait and see if he gets symptoms. Has anyone ever had thrush of the nipples but not given it to your baby. I have looked this up online and again came up answerless. I feel like i am asking the same questions over and over again and i am sorry but i do appreciate the answers they make me feel alot more relaxed and comfortable. knowing all the info i can get on these two conditions makes me feel a little more at ease. thank you!!

if you are breastfeeding he will get sick if you are sick. But the chances go down if you are not. Just wash your hands and avoid kissing him or anything that could pass bodily fliuds in anyway. Sneezing and such near him.

Thrush is from your brestfeeding as you know, just use a baby wipe to clean your nipple before feeding the baby, the alcohol in the wipes should kill any bacteria so this wont happen again. If your 2 year old kissed the baby or put a bottle in his mouth after the baby used it, that is how he could have gotten it. It is really just bacteria, so your nipples could look perfectly fine, just keep an eye out for an infection in you.

Yes it can get worse if not treated, just follow the DR’s directions and it should be fine. As long as there is no fevers, then they should be fine to go to daycare. I would call the DR and see if there is another prescription for your 2 year old that is easier of use, if you don’t have great access to your DR, walk into any pharmacy (like Walmart) and ask them what would be a good substitute and then try to get that prescription. Thrush normally lasts anywhere from a few days to a couple weeks, it just varies, so there is no way to really tell when they will heal.

I wish you luck!!

Treat Thrush, Candida and Yeast Infections – The Facts Everyone Should Know

Candida albicans is one of many organisms that live in the human mouth and gastrointestinal tract.

Under normal circumstances, it is present in 80% of the human population with no harmful effects. However in some people, it can proliferate and this overgrowth results in the production of nearly 100 toxic substances which, if left untreated, can poison your body.

The two biggest toxins – canditoxin and ethanol – can negatively affect brain functions and your nervous system, as well as interfering with the body’s biochemical processes.

These two substances are known to be the cause of many of the symptoms associated with candida/candidiasis, including vaginal thrush, eczema, blotchy skin, dryness, itching, oral thrush, sinus problems, constipation, diarrhoea, restless sleep, bloating, lack of energy, mood swings, cravings for sweet food, food allergies and many more.

The yeast lives in two forms: Roots and Spores.

The human body has no ability to attack and kill the spores and there are no drugs that you can take which can do it either. Yeast spores remain dormant for years and then can suddenly flare up and cause thrush, candidiasis or other yeast-related infections.

It is commonly assumed that thrush, candida and yeast infections are minor ailments peculiar only to women. This was actively underlined by the fact that to classify the subject heading for this article proved very difficult.

The reality is that candida and yeast infections will affect 75% of all people at some point, including children. In babies, it can take the form of oral thrush (a white coating on the inside of the mouth), as well as nappy rash.

Men can also get genital yeast infections, and having no symptoms, they are unaware, passing it on to their sexual partner. This sets up a cycle where the infection passes back and forth between them, no matter how many times the female tries to ‘cure’ the problem.

Candida and yeast infections can manifest themselves as skin rashes, particularly in skin folds, such as under the breasts.

Painful urination (cystitis) can also be a symptom and repeatedly taking drugs to ease this or any of the physical results of thrush, candida or yeast infections does only that. These drugs stop the painful pee and itchy discomfort but do not address the underlying cause. In the long term, medication only serves to make the recurring symptoms worse, often rendering the organism drug resistant.

There are various non-drug-related methods purporting to treat thrush, candida and yeast infections: herbal remedies, Threelac, tinctures, Cellfood Oxygen, tonics, detox diets, vitamin therapy, Antibiotics, hydrotherapy, aromatherapy, macrobiotics, reflexology, Chinese Medicine, vegetarianism, the Wai diet, magnetic therapy, the mucus-less diet, the blood type diet.

There is also a very strict anti-Candida diet, which involves eliminating the ingestion of all yeasts, moulds, sugars and refined, processed produce.

However, sufferers report that these methods alone either have no effect at all or work only in the short term and result in a worsening of the symptoms once a normal lifestyle is resumed.

Even the natural remedies can have unpleasant side effects: The popular natural cure of Olive Leaf can kill yeast infections but it can also be toxic to the liver, thus causing its own problems.

Certainly to treat thrush, candida and yeast infections, you need to research the subject exhaustively, taking into account any possible side effects and then assess the results on your own personal condition.

It can be a very imprecise science.
